Chapter 525: Alice Quinn
Chapter 525: Alice Quinn
Mrs. Seymour’s tea party was much more subdued than imagined.
Not many people came; when Thea Shaw arrived, at the exquisitely arranged tea party, only Mrs. Seymour and two unfamiliar noblewomen were chatting.
Thea Shaw saw Leon Vaughn.
She sat on a white long bench, wearing a luxurious water-blue long dress, her head lowered, nervously fidgeting with her fingers.
Her attire had changed from top to bottom, even her hair had been carefully styled.
She had transformed completely, only some faint, fine marks on her skin indicated what she had experienced.
She seemed unconcerned with hiding these.
Thea Shaw greeted Leon Vaughn when she saw her: "Hello, Leon Vaughn."
Leon Vaughn looked up, her expression somewhat surprised: "It’s you, Miss Shaw."
For the person who had once saved her, Leon Vaughn was full of gratitude: "Thank you so much for what you did that time."
If it weren’t for Thea Shaw, she wouldn’t have been able to break free from Lucas Sawyer, nor let Mrs. Seymour recognize her again and completely change her life.
"You’re welcome, just doing what anyone would."
Leon Vaughn’s lips twitched; not everyone would intervene, and the fact that Thea Shaw did was enough to make her grateful.
Of course, she didn’t remember just Thea Shaw: "And your brother, has he returned? I was planning to invite both of you for a meal."
A meal couldn’t repay such a life-saving grace, but at least it would show her thanks.
"He’s gone back to Aethelgard; he’s usually busier than me, but we’ll definitely make it happen next time there’s an opportunity."
Mrs. Seymour noticed Thea Shaw and Leon Vaughn’s brief conversation, nodded apologetically to the two ladies, then came over to greet Thea Shaw.
"You’ve arrived? Mrs. Quinn told me she was on her way too, should be here soon."
Just as Mrs. Seymour finished speaking, a servant led Mrs. Quinn in.
Mrs. Quinn wasn’t alone; she was with the young girl Thea Shaw had encountered before.
The other girl also noticed Thea Shaw, looking over immediately, with a stronger sense of wariness in her eyes.
Mrs. Seymour went over to greet them, and Leon Vaughn noticed Mrs. Quinn and the girl, her expression somewhat complicated, suddenly murmuring: "I know that girl."
Thea Shaw raised an eyebrow with curiosity: "Oh?"
Leon Vaughn said: "When I was in middle school, she studied at the same school as me, she was my senior Alice Quinn, and at that time she was a prominent figure at our school, an heiress with outstanding talents, always invited to speak and host at school events every year, a campus belle. Later, she went abroad for high school, and the school would update her status annually, taking pride in her as a shining star of our school."
Her voice was full of bitterness: "I was so envious of Senior Alice Quinn at that time."
A life of a golden girl, something she couldn’t obtain back then.
And now, she was even more envious.
Because she once also had such a life, which was completely destroyed.
No matter how hard she started learning now, she could never catch up to those girls raised in such families from a young age.
Thea Shaw patted Leon Vaughn’s shoulder: "It’s alright, it’s not too late for you to return to the Seymour Family; as long as you work hard, you can control everything in the family, just look at your mother and you’ll understand, you must not stop striving."
Leon Vaughn lifted her lips, still full of bitterness: "I understand."
She looked at Thea Shaw with admiring eyes: "But more than Senior Alice Quinn, I envy you even more."
The qualities in Thea Shaw were something that couldn’t be possessed even by growing up in the best environments.
