Chapter 233 - 330: Do You Know That Seth Quinn Used to Have a Fiancée?

Clara, however, just let out a cold laugh. Her gaze shot toward Chloe Grant as she continued, "Is this all what your good daughter, Chloe Grant, told you? That she just accidentally snapped an intimate photo of some woman with Seth Quinn,

and then carelessly mentioned that the woman might be Seth Quinn’s girlfriend, so now Seth Quinn is suing her for defamation and trying to have her completely blacklisted?"

Hearing her words, Cedric Grant felt like something wasn’t quite right, but he still nodded.

Chloe Grant, however, immediately grew flustered. She hadn’t expected her father to repeat her story in front of Clara. After all, Clara knew the truth of the matter perfectly well.

She had lied because even though her father had disowned Clara, he was obsessed with protecting his own pride and the Grant family’s reputation. He had forbidden them from ever revealing that Clara was not his biological daughter. On top of that, he had strictly ordered Chloe not to do anything to target Clara in public.

If Clara were to reveal the truth, Chloe would inevitably face her father’s wrath again.

So, she frantically tried to change the subject by lashing out at Clara. "Clara Grant, Dad is your father too. How can you address him so formally as ’Mr. Grant’? You’re being incredibly disrespectful."

But Clara didn’t take the bait. She knew exactly what Chloe was afraid of. ’And the more she fears it, the more I’m going to say it.’

"Mr. Grant, do you know who the woman in that so-called ’intimate photo’ is? It’s me. And Chloe didn’t just ’casually mention’ I might be Seth Quinn’s girlfriend. Do you want to know what she actually said?"

"Clara Grant!" Chloe cried out in a panic, trying to stop her, but to no avail.

"She said that I, Clara Grant, was fooling around with men, that I was a kept woman who sold herself for money, a shameless mistress. At first, she didn’t even know the man was Seth Quinn, so she took the photo right to him! Her goal was to ruin my reputation so that Aegis would drop me from their production of *A Lifetime of Splendor*!

Hah. You tell me, who else would Seth Quinn sue? Who else would he blacklist?"

After listening to Clara, Cedric Grant was so furious he was practically fuming. ’That damned girl, Chloe! She promised me right to my face that she wouldn’t cause any trouble, but instead, she went behind my back and slandered Clara’s reputation like this.’

’Doesn’t she realize that disgracing Clara is the same as disgracing me, Cedric Grant, and the entire Grant Family!’

’If word gets out that my daughter is this kind of person, how could I ever show my face in public again? I’d be a laughingstock!’

He glared at Chloe, his eyes practically shooting fire.

Clara paused for a moment before turning back to Chloe. "Oh, by the way, you just said he’s my father, too, didn’t you? Weren’t you the one who made it perfectly clear to me that he isn’t my biological father?"

The moment she spoke, Cedric Grant froze in shock. He whipped his head toward Chloe and demanded harshly, "Chloe Grant, is what Clara said true? Did you just ignore my orders completely?"

Chloe was frightened, but she was used to being doted on by Cedric and tried to whine her way out of it. "Dad, it was her fault! Clara made me mad, and it just... slipped out in the heat of the moment..."

SLAP!

Before Chloe could finish speaking, a resounding slap struck her across the face.

It was clear Cedric had put a lot of force into it; the blow snapped Chloe’s head to the side.

Chloe clutched her cheek, her face a mask of disbelief. "Dad... you hit me? You actually hit me for that bastard, Clara!"

At the word "bastard," Clara’s expression instantly turned to ice. She opened her mouth to speak, but Cedric beat her to it.

"Shut up!"

"I won’t shut up! I’ll say it!" Chloe screamed through her tears. "You keep calling her ’Clara’ so affectionately, yet you raise your hand to me! Who is your real daughter here?"

With that, she turned to Clara, a cold sneer on her face. "Clara Grant, do you think you’ve won? You think just because you’ve latched onto Seth Quinn, you can start acting like the lady of the house? Hah. Did you know Seth Quinn used to have a fiancée? He bought this house for her. And from what I hear, she’s about to come back."
