Chapter 243 - 240: Give Her a Push
Sarah Shelby was a little speechless, but she typed back a reply: "She’s here. Why? Are you coming to see her?"
After sending the message, she looked up, only to see that Clara had poured another drink and had already drunk half of it.
She knew Clara all too well. One drink wouldn’t get her drunk, but the second one would definitely knock her out.
Clara’s normally porcelain-white face was now flushed bright red. Even her lips were red and slightly pouted, looking utterly irresistible.
Because of the alcohol, her luminous eyes were misty and carried a hint of a daze.
’Clara was already gorgeous, and now she looked even more beautiful and charming. Sarah was certain that if she were a man, she would have fallen in love with her at first sight.’
Sarah sighed to herself, picking her phone back up just as she was about to put it down and sending another text.
*Clara seems to be drunk. Mr. Quinn, do you want to come over and pick her up?*
After typing out the message, she hesitated for a moment before finally hitting send.
’In her opinion, Clara and Seth Quinn were a match made in heaven. Clara was a far better fit for Seth than Autumn Shelby was!’
’Besides, such a wonderful girl like Clara deserved a loving relationship and a man who would treat her right.’
’So, since Clara was already married to Seth... even though Sarah knew she might have agreed to marry him for reasons other than love, she could see that Clara had feelings for him now. The least she could do was give her a little nudge in the right direction.’
’I hope Clara can see her own heart clearly soon.’
She didn’t get a reply from Seth Quinn after sending the text, and she didn’t know if he had even seen it.
Sarah didn’t give it another thought. Although she wanted to help them, sometimes with matters of the heart, you could only let things run their course.
She glanced at Clara and saw that her glass was now empty. Clara was staring intently at the glass in her hand. After a long moment, she frowned and asked, "Huh? Sarah, why do I have two glasses in my hand?"
Sarah stood up, took the glass from her hand, and placed it on the table. "That’s because you’re drunk," she said helplessly.
’And she said she had self-control. She did, when she wasn’t dealing with relationship problems. But as soon as she was, what was self-control? Who knew?’
"Drunk? What do you mean, drunk? I’m not drunk," Clara said, tilting her head as she looked at her, clearly disagreeing.
Sarah gave a wry smile. ’See? She really is drunk, because people who are drunk never admit it.’
But she just went along with her, saying, "Okay, okay, you’re not... drunk."
Looking at Clara, who had now collapsed onto the sofa with her eyes closed, Sarah again shook her head helplessly.
She checked the time—it was almost ten. ’I wonder if Seth Quinn ever saw the text, or if he’s coming back,’ Sarah thought. After a moment, she went to the bedroom, retrieved a thin blanket, and draped it over Clara.
Just as she straightened up after covering Clara, the doorbell rang.
She froze for a moment. ’Could that be Seth Quinn? But the timing doesn’t seem right. It took Clara half an hour to get here in a cab. He couldn’t have arrived this fast, even if he was speeding. Not unless he hit every green light and there was no traffic at all.’
With that in mind, Sarah went to open the door. She was stunned to see that it was, in fact, Seth Quinn standing outside.
As for Seth Quinn, he looked anxious. While she was still frozen in surprise, he had already strode into the room, asking, "Where is she?"
The moment he asked, he saw the woman passed out on the sofa.
