Chapter 119: The Danger Closing In
Chapter 119: The Danger Closing In
Looking at his current balance, he could only afford to buy one more thing. Since he had already made up his mind to increase his survivability, he decided to buy another thing as well.
[ X-Gloves: High strength gloves made for combat. They can easily withstand force by Gold-Tier Terra Beasts. Also comes with retractable claws.]
Reading Desk’s description reminded him of a character from his previous world, a werewolf kind. He decided to buy it because it could help a lot in improving his fighting ability, and not because it just looked cool. That wasn’t the primary reason at all.
[Ding!! Thank you for your purchase.]
Seeing the remaining balance of 6,000 something, Raiden once again felt poor.
As for the remaining amount required to get the Golden Tree or The Lightning Canopy, it seemed far out of his reach.
The Lightning Canopy produced the special grade Thunder food required to feed Woolie.
Of course Raiden hadn’t tested how effective it would be on Woolie yet, but if Neva’s example was anything to go by, he may need it to power him up properly.
"Alright!! It’s only a few thousand alliance points. I can earn it back pretty soon. No need to be too worried about it." Raiden perked himself up.
It was just a matter of time. He will go home before next week for sure.
"Yes, no matter what I’ll do, there will be no more regrets in my life for this."
--------------------------------
"Fuck, I regret it, I regret it so much." Raiden hit his head against a wall multiple times in frustrations.
Forget one week, it had been two weeks by now.
And he only earned peanuts in these past two weeks.
[Current Balance: 12,000 AP]
That’s right, he only managed to earn about 16,000 Alliance Points in the past two weeks after doing missions every day.
After deducting the food expenses for the past two weeks for both Neva and Woolie, he only managed to save about 6,000 AP.
Turns out the first mission he went to was an outlier and he never encountered that level of Tera Beast Horde again.
"Only if I saved those Alliance Points back then. I would have been out by now!!"
Just as Raiden was venting his frustrations alone in the room, his door was thrown open with a BANG!
"Oye newbie!! Our captain is finally back!! Come out and pay respects to him right now."
Raiden looked speechlessly at John, who had no sense of what was called a privacy.
"You know, maybe try knocking next time? What if I was doing something in here?" Raiden said in an exasperated voice.
"Huh? Doing something?? What would you be doing anyways, weirdo. Anyways come out right now. We need to go. The captain is calling for you. He wants to meet the super rookie, who has been doing all the missions with a 100% completion rate. Let’s go!!" John urged him once again, almost dragging him out of the room by his hand.
"Alright, alright I am coming jeez. Slow down for a minute." Raiden fixed his clothes and started walking outside the room, following John towards the common room.
"Captain, you’re back! Did you bring back any souvenirs for me?"
"Captain is back. Sydney wants a hug."
"Hahaha, calm down both of you. I just got back from the trip man. Jonah, this is for you. Sydney, this is for you." A calm and smiling man was standing in the centre of the room, with green hair and squinted eyes.
With golden glasses on his nose, the man instinctively gave Raiden a bad feeling about him.
If he had to put it in words, the man felt like a cold venomous snake.
"Oh, the super newbie is also here. Let me introduce myself, I’m the captain of Platoon squad 4. You can call me Bai Zang."
The man who called himself Bai Zang pried off Jonah who was hanging off him, before walking towards Raiden and extending his hand.
Raiden instinctively extended his hand to shake it.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Raiden." Raiden kept thoughts to himself as he smiled politely.
"I heard a lot about you Raiden, the super rookie. The man who shook the Alliance Rankings, the one who had 100% mission rate. I look forward to working together on a mission with you." Bai Zang eyes squinted even more as he grabbed Raiden’s hand even more tightly.
Feeling the pressure on his hand, Raiden thoughts were quickly confirmed.
’Yep, just as I thought. This man doesn’t like me. He’s looks like a villain alright.’
"Oh, I am honoured that you know me captain. I heard so much about you as well!! It’s truly my honour to meet you."
Crack. Crack.
Raiden squeezed his hand tightly as well, producing loud crack sounds as he did.
Both of them looked at each other with smiles on their faces, as they kept squeezing each other’s hand as tightly as they can, creating an intense atmosphere between them.
"Wow, the captain and newbie must really like each other." Jonah clapped her hands together as she looked at them with obvious stare.
As if her words were a signal, both of let go of each other’s hand, while silently glaring at each other.
"Well it was very nice to meet you Raiden. Pardon me, I really need to go and take care of some business. I’ll see you soon, real soon~ Ba Bye." The captian waved goodbye to everyone at the base, before leaving the base with a smile.
"How nice newbie, it seems like the captain likes you a lot. If you get into his good graces, you’ll be rolling in Alliance Points soon. Lucky you." Jonah spoke with an somewhat envious tone, which Raiden heard absentmindedly.
"Oh yeah, he likes a lot. A whole lot. Lucky me."
Meanwhile, Bai Zang walked a little distance away the base, the ever present smile on his face gone. Instead, an chilling look was present on his face as he pulled out his cell phone.
"Hello?? Yeah, it’s me. I have already made contact with the subject. No, he doesn’t really suspect anything. We can begin the plan anytime now. I’ll lead him out. Yes."
"The Operation ’Fall of The False Emperor ’ is a go."
