Chapter 2374 - 2350: The Relationship Is Quite Good
Chapter 2374 - 2350: The Relationship Is Quite Good
The first battle in Yemen ended at the cost of Joseph’s minor wound. The price wasn’t high, but Gao Yang was still somewhat dissatisfied.
A minor wound is still a wound, it still needs time to recover, and the only real difference between a minor wound and a serious one is just a bit of luck. If the bullet or shrapnel had deviated just a little, that minor wound could have become a serious one, or even fatal.
If someone gets hurt in every fight, even if it’s just a minor wound, Satan can’t afford it.
What Gao Yang worried about wasn’t that too many wounded would affect combat strength and thereby disrupt their plan in Yemen; he just didn’t want anyone in Satan getting hurt, let alone killed.
Since the difference between a minor wound and a serious one is often just a tiny bit of distance, basically just a bit of luck, then luck obviously becomes an extremely important thing.
Anyone who’s been on the battlefield long enough is at least a little superstitious, and what happened today only made Gao Yang believe even more in luck and whether something is auspicious or not.
Bruce’s nickname was Test Tube, and he died. Jesse Lee’s nickname was Firearm, and he’s crippled. Of course, James’s nickname is Cockroach and he’s crippled too, but he didn’t die, and his disability is much lighter than Jesse’s, right?
Tonight, only two people were hit—Peter, nickname Iron Man, and Joseph, nickname Glove. So Gao Yang had no choice but to start taking the whole nickname issue very seriously.
Gao Yang decided that whenever someone joins Satan in the future, the first order of business is giving them an animal nickname. Vulgar or not, superstitious or not, in any case this will be Satan’s tradition from now on.
But since the battle was already over, what mattered now was everything else.
In this battle, Gao Yang had discovered two very important problems. First, the combat power of the Shah Intelligence Agency was much higher than he had expected, and this increased combat power had to be credited to some people who clearly weren’t Shah People.
The other important problem was that the Dagger Assault Team’s combat strength was far too weak—so weak that they could only be used as pure cannon fodder, otherwise they were just a complete burden.
Satan couldn’t possibly take on every combat task, personally fight every battle, and even have to personally finish every fight. Never mind whether there’d be casualties—just the exhaustion alone would kill them.
Now Gao Yang was trying to solve these two problems.
Gao Yang picked up a phone and took pictures of several people who’d tried to escape by blowing a hole in the back-yard wall.
They were already dead, yet he still had to use his phone to photograph each corpse with its eyes wide open in death, and he had to make sure the shots were clear. That definitely wasn’t a pleasant job.
After taking close-up shots of five faces in a row, Gao Yang walked aside with the phone and dialed a number. When the person on the other end picked up, he lowered his voice and said, "Buddy, I’m sending you a few photos. Help me identify them, see if you can figure out who they are."
Justin answered without hesitation, "Okay, send them over now."
Gao Yang sent the photos. Justin quickly complained, "Man, you didn’t tell me they were dead!"
"Does it make a difference?"
"You don’t feel uncomfortable staring into the wide-open eyes of dead people? All right, I know who these guys are."
Gao Yang said in surprise, "That fast? Don’t screw this up, their identities are very important to me."
"I won’t screw up, because I know two of them. These guys are mercenaries, and they’re my clients. You think I could mistake them?"
Gao Yang let out a quiet breath and said in a low voice, "So they really are mercenaries. Tell me in detail."
"These guys belong to a mercenary group called Parloyer. They’ve got about thirty men. The leader is named Patrice Saniya, nickname Swordsman, a Frenchman. The Parloyer Mercenary Group mainly operated in Africa, but after the Libya war, they shifted their focus to the Middle East. They’re not very famous, but their strength is decent. Not particularly good, but not bad either. Their prices aren’t too high, so the cost-performance ratio is actually pretty good."
Since Justin had recognized the dead men at a glance, of course he could rattle off detailed information about this mercenary group.
Gao Yang thought for a moment, confirmed he’d never heard the name before, then waved Glolov over. When Glolov came close, Gao Yang covered the receiver and whispered, "Those people are mercenaries. Quietly go count how many mercenaries there are. Don’t make a fuss, especially don’t let Salim know."
Glolov whispered, "Understood. Did you find out which mercenary group?"
"Parloyer. Heard of them?"
Glolov frowned slightly, then said in a low voice, "Parloyer...the mercenary group whose leader is Swordsman?"
Gao Yang nodded. "Yeah. You know them?"
Glolov let out a long breath, nodded, and said, "Yeah, I know them..."
He said he knew them, then shook his head, sighed, and turned to walk away.
Gao Yang hadn’t expected Glolov to know an enemy mercenary group. He uncovered the receiver and said to Justin, "What does the name Parloyer mean? Is it a person’s name?"
"No. Parloyer is the local name for a very common wild grass in Central Africa. It’s extremely hardy and you see it everywhere."
Gao Yang said softly, "So that’s it. Then do you know when the Parloyer Mercenary Group started working with Saudi Arabia?"
Justin said in surprise, "Parloyer worked for Saudi Arabia? I didn’t know. I’ve been cut off from the outside world lately, you know that. So who exactly is Parloyer working for?"
"The Shah Intelligence Agency. We just wiped out a Shah Intelligence Agency stronghold and ran into heavy resistance. The fight ended very clean."
"I’ll look into it for you. As a rule, Saudi Arabia is unlikely to hire a mercenary group like Parloyer, especially the Shah Intelligence Agency. Their dirty work usually gets handed off to Iron Madonna. How could Parloyer possibly get a contract from the Shah Intelligence Agency? I’ll check right away, wait for my news."
"Okay, let me know as soon as you’ve got something."
Gao Yang hung up. After four or five minutes, Glolov came back and whispered to him, "I personally checked them one by one. There are twenty-two distinct bodies. A lot more were mangled beyond recognition by the Cloud Burst Bomb."
After he spoke, Glolov glanced back, then turned his head again and said quietly, "Swordsman’s body is here too. I saw his corpse."
Glolov looked a little dejected. Gao Yang asked softly, "You and he...knew each other?"
Glolov gave a bitter, rather dispirited smile, then nodded. "I’ve been a mercenary for a very, very long time. Naturally I know a lot of people in the business. Yeah, I knew Swordsman, and we were familiar. Honestly, our relationship was pretty good."
