Chapter 421 - 248: Unprecedented Overwhelming Firepower (Part 2)
"Evan has always been cautious. This bone crow was likely left by him in secret when the enemy was off guard, just to warn us."
Liam’s gaze was somber, his expression shifting unpredictably.
"Now it seems that the twelve who first entered the Starlight Continent may have already fallen into the enemy’s hands, with little hope of survival!"
The Dog-headed Wizard frowned and said, "But it shouldn’t be possible. The Starlight Continent has been sealed off for a millennium, resources are scarce, it’s impossible for a powerful presence to emerge there. There were as many as twelve Wizards accompanying Evan. How could the entire force be obliterated?"
"It’s indeed unbelievable, but the facts are already in front of us," Liam said in a low voice. "The puppets that captured Evan were clearly of Wizard Level, which speaks volumes."
The Bone-faced Wizard and the Dog-headed Wizard fell silent immediately, their expressions filled with doubt and uncertainty.
They, of course, knew what this indicated.
The crafting of Wizard Level puppets requires resources, skills, and strength, all indispensable.
If it were only one or two Wizard Level puppets, perhaps they could have been obtained through some Wizard inheritance.
But seven Wizard Level puppets, and of different types, could only have been crafted by some Wizard Influence!
And that’s exactly why they found it hard to believe.
The environment of the Starlight Continent couldn’t possibly nurture a Wizard Influence!
It would be a blessing just to produce a single Wizard!
What on earth has happened on the Starlight Continent in these two thousand years?
"It seems we have underestimated the Starlight Continent." Liam squinted his eyes.
"So what do we do next?" the Bone-faced Wizard asked.
Before Liam could speak, the Dog-headed Wizard huffed coldly and said, "Isn’t it obvious? We seek revenge!"
"Even if there truly is a Wizard Influence on the Starlight Continent, so what?"
"An influence that evolved from the Elemental Desert Era, at most inheriting a few hundred or thousand years—how powerful can it be?"
"With our Wizard Tower, there’s no need for caution; we can crush them straightforwardly and let these country bumpkins know what happens when they oppose our Dark Throne!"
Liam glanced at him and said calmly, "Don’t be careless. An Influence capable of crafting Wizard Level puppets still has some strength."
Though he said this, he privately agreed with the other’s words.
The environmental limitations of the Starlight Continent are evident, and any Wizard Influence born from this land is limited, no matter how strong.
It doesn’t even meet the standards of a universally recognized Wizard Influence.
Although there were only three of them, they had a small Wizard Tower, which was more than capable of destroying a low-level pseudo-Wizard Influence!
Thinking optimistically, if there truly was a Wizard Influence on the Starlight Continent, it might imply that resources weren’t as scarce as they thought.
At the very least, the unknown influence must possess significant resources!
If they could defeat that influence and claim the resources, this mission would undoubtedly yield great rewards!
At this thought, Liam couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement.
The other two also had flickering eyes, clearly having thought along the same lines.
Competition within the Dark Throne was fierce, and Wizards like them, without backing or support, constantly exploited, had a far from favorable situation. They couldn’t afford to overlook any chance to acquire resources.
"Revenge is certainly necessary, and besides, we’re tasked with the conquest of the Starlight Continent,"
Liam said sternly:
"But we must act cautiously. It’s best to first gather intelligence and understand the specific situation of that Wizard Influence."
This prudent suggestion didn’t face any objections from the Bone-faced Wizard and the Dog-headed Wizard.
Soon, the Wizard Tower hummed with a tremor, darting forward into the distance.
The Wizard Tower flew at an incredible speed, and soon the silhouette of a town appeared at the horizon.
"Directly approach the local noble lord. These guys know more," Liam said solemnly.
The Dog-headed Wizard grinned, "Let me do it. My Corpse Hunter Hound hasn’t eaten for a long time; this town is enough to give them a feast."
Liam glanced at him and nodded expressionlessly.
It was merely a human city, and if slaughtered, so be it. As long as they collected valuable information and didn’t delay the task, Liam didn’t mind the other’s actions.
After all, these two were not his subordinates but temporary teammates for this mission. Although as a Level Two Wizard he could somewhat restrain them, he couldn’t command them entirely.
Meanwhile, the Wizard Tower drew ever closer to the town, coming to a vantage point where they could overlook it entirely.
But just then, the space ahead suddenly twisted. The azure sky seemed cleaved by a blade, splitting open with a massive rift.
Before the astonished gaze of Liam and the others, an imposing giant tower emerged and flew out.
"Wizard Tower!"
The Dog-headed Wizard’s face drastically changed, exclaiming in horror.
Liam and the Bone-faced Wizard were equally bewildered.
What’s going on?
Why is there a Wizard Tower here?
Could it be that another Wizard Influence has invaded the Starlight Continent before them?
Is it the Withered Wood Council? Barbarian Spirits? Or that treacherous Deep Blue Alliance?
Liam’s expression darkened, sensing that something unexpected might have occurred.
"The architectural style of that Wizard Tower... It’s unclear which influence it belongs to," the Bone-faced Wizard frowned, turning to Liam. "What should we do?"
Liam hesitated momentarily upon hearing this.
But soon he didn’t have to ponder long; the other side had made the decision for him.
A resounding roar exploded above, as if innumerable beasts were bellowing in unison, an echoing crescendo like thunder rolling across the sky.
Subsequently, the opposite Wizard Tower suddenly illuminated with blinding magical brilliance. Countless thick beams shot out, raining like a storm, striking the Dark Wizard Tower where Liam was located.
Buzz!
The Maze Lock Protective Energy Field of the Dark Wizard Tower instantly activated, enveloping the entire tower in a warped field, blocking the incoming myriad of beams!
However, the three were horrified and changed color.
"Are those Spell Towers?!"
"It seems so... But their power is ridiculously strong!"
"The key is the quantity. I saw it clearly; that Wizard Tower fired three hundred spell beams simultaneously just now!"
Liam and the others were in shock.
The standard for a small Wizard Tower’s long-range strike devices is usually only a hundred Spell Towers.
Better equipped ones might have a hundred and fifty or sixty.
It’s not that the builders of the Wizard Tower lack money or are unwilling to equip more Spell Towers, but rather that energy in the Wizard Tower is limited.
Equipping three hundred Spell Towers certainly boosts firepower, but a few volleys would deplete the Wizard Tower’s energy—what’s the point?
Even Wizard Towers equipped with hundreds of Spell Towers don’t usually fire them all at once in battle, deploying them according to specific needs and situations, often only using a portion to target specific goals.
The Wizard Tower opposite, by its size, is clearly a small Wizard Tower, yet equipped with three hundred Spell Towers; it truly defies Liam and the others’ understanding!
It’s simply absurd!
The crucial point is those Spell Towers are far more powerful than standard ones!
The recent barrage alone reduced the durability of the Dark Wizard Tower’s Maze Lock Protective Energy Field by more than a third!
Even a Plasma Cannon’s damage isn’t this terrifying!
"These guys are bluffing!"
Recovering from the shock, the Dog-headed Wizard’s eyes flickered as he sneered.
"With such tactics, I don’t believe their Wizard Tower’s energy can sustain it. That volley just now probably drained their Elemental Pool’s energy!"
A small Elemental Pool’s energy is limited and insufficient to support so many Spell Towers in dense, sustained firing.
But just as he spoke, the opposite Wizard Tower ignited once more with dazzling magical brilliance. A dense barrage of spell beams once again poured out, thundering down onto the Dark Wizard Tower!
