The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot

Chapter 292: Want to Visit Bexley Again

Chapter 292: Want to Visit Bexley Again

The sense of things changing with time while the mountains and rivers remain, but you and I no longer look as we did.

Five years have passed in the blink of an eye. Holly Sawyer is now seventy-five, and Leo Grant is seventy-seven, reaching the twilight of their lives.

The world tour they once spoke of has been fulfilled, and they have wandered for a long time.

"Old lady, shall we go back?"

Leo Grant looked at the calendar on the wall and turned to say to Holly Sawyer.

"What’s up?"

Holly lay on the bed scrolling her phone, the seventy-something old lady already hooked on her mobile.

Probably from Holly’s generation onwards, all future generations will still be playing on their phones when they reach old age.

Those who love gaming might be teaming up for games even with gray hair.

"I’m a bit homesick."

Leo continued flipping through the calendar as he spoke slowly.

Having been away for so long, he’s genuinely starting to miss their home in Arkenfall, a faint smile tugging at Leo’s lips.

Instantly, Holly stopped scrolling on her phone, lifted her eyes to look at Leo, and then slowly said, "Alright."

Let’s go back then.

The next day, they bought tickets back to Arkenfall and returned directly to Arkenfall.

Their return was so quiet that even Jenna Grant didn’t know they were back. Once back, they returned to the community where they first lived.

"This place feels familiar."

"Everything still feels the same as it did at the start; nothing in the furnishings has changed."

Holly commented as she looked at the interior of the house.

When they first came to Arkenfall, they always lived here. The place isn’t large but is conveniently located with food places nearby.

Actually, a big house doesn’t provide a sense of security; a tiny house gives the right amount of comfort.

So they’ve always stayed here after arriving in Arkenfall. After getting married, they moved to the villa over there, but they often returned before Jenna was born, and even occasionally after she was born.

The furnishings inside are unchanged, the same as before. Standing in the living room, Holly has the illusion of being just over twenty.

"Yeah, our life in Arkenfall began here."

Leo gently put his arm around Holly’s shoulders and spoke with extreme gentleness.

Yes, after they came to Arkenfall, this was their first home and the starting point of their life in Arkenfall, and furthermore, the place where Holly got married.

Thanks to regular cleaning by housemaids, there wasn’t a speck of dust inside, making it very clean.

That night, after dinner, lying in bed, Holly continued watching videos on her phone while Leo used the computer for something.

"Let’s go through all our assets, it’s time to transfer them and make a will."

"We’re getting old; you never know when we might not be around. Unexpected incidents happen so often."

"We simply cannot predict it."

Leo suddenly looked up at Holly, speaking slowly with a doting and gentle smile.

Holly’s heart skipped a beat, and she smiled at Leo, "Yes, it is time to go through it."

"We have only one daughter and a grandson and granddaughter. Whatever we have will be theirs."

Holly calculated her assets and spoke slowly.

With few people, disagreements are also fewer.

"Old man, let me see your hand."

Holly suddenly asked Leo to extend his hand.

Leo glanced at Holly with slight hesitation, "What’s the matter?"

"Something I got for you."

In Holly’s palm was a small red string, and she slightly swayed it as she spoke in a gentle tone.

A tiny red string.

Leo smiled and extended his hand.

"It’ll ensure you live a long life."

While tying the red string on Leo’s wrist, Holly spoke with earnestness in her expression.

"Superstitious."

Leo gently tapped Holly’s nose and spoke softly.

"Not at all."

Holly shook her head.

The moment her hand left Leo’s wrist, Holly lowered her eyes to conceal her emotions, and when she looked up, her face was filled with smiles.

"How about we visit Bexley tomorrow?"

Just before sleep, Leo suddenly suggested.

Ever since returning to Arkenfall, they seldom went back to Bexley, hardly even once a year, only occasionally revisiting when they missed it dearly.

The home in Bexley was the starting point of Leo and Holly’s relationship.

So many years ago, their first ever meeting took place in that villa in Bexley.

There, they met, got to know, and fell in love, marking the beginning of their relationship.

"Sure."

"Why do you want to go back?"

Holly casually asked.

Over the years, Leo had mostly accommodated her, rarely asking for anything.

He seemed to have no demands at all and now that he asked for this...

Holly lowered her eyes; with the room dark, she didn’t need to hide the sadness in her eyes anymore.

"Perhaps, as people grow old, they tend to be nostalgic."

Leo gently closed his eyes, speaking slowly.

Nostalgia.

Missing the past and wanting to relive it.

"Yes."

Holly said reflectively.

As people age, they can’t escape the rule of life and death, whether by illness or peacefully, it’s all death, after all.

"We can spend a few days in Bexley, then head back to spend time with Jean and the kids."

Leo said, in an extremely earnest tone.

He seemed to have everything planned out, as if he already had an idea and had arranged things in his mind.

"Sure, but aren’t the kids at university, not home?"

Holly nodded, then suddenly recalled something.

The two kids are in college, already nineteen and attending university.

Luckily, no negative genetic traits emerged; Leo and Holly’s grandkids are very bright, studying at Arkenfall University with excellent grades.

"It’s almost summer break; we’ll tell them grandpa and grandma are back from traveling, and they’ll come home."

Leo, acknowledging, spoke slowly.

"It seems like you’ve planned everything out; why so meticulously?"

Holly asked, trying to find out something from Leo.

"No reason, just an old man being nostalgic."

Leo maintained the same excuse, his tone especially relaxed.

"Yes, I miss it too, not wanting to continue wandering outside."

Holly agreed, staring at the pitch-dark ceiling with mixed emotions.

"Sleep, goodnight."

"Goodnight."

Some time passed before the sound of Leo’s even breathing could be heard, while Holly remained wide awake.
