Chapter 307: Giving the Crew Some Help
Chapter 307: Giving the Crew Some Help
The room didn’t have enough space for all of them. It was better than staying in the storage, obviously, but that didn’t mean it was good.
Damian tried to change that with his new appearance. He was using the identity of Marcelo, a wealthy merchant. The idea he had in mind was to use his influence to get another room so that his friends could use.
It was not easy, though. Damian went to talk with the people in charge of the ship, and despite his influence and money, that was not possible.
"I am sorry, sir, but all the cabinets are currently occupied. But the person living next to your room will leave the ship in our first stop, and when that happens, you can take the room," the captain of the ship said, "But why do you want it?"
Damian smiled, "You know, I brought some people to have fun with, and there’s not enough space in my room."
The captain instantly understood what Damian meant, but if his mind was not doing him dirty, he recalled that Marcelo was married, yet was bringing bitches along in the ship. Of course, he didn’t say that aloud.
Despite not getting the room like he initially wanted, Damian was happy that he would get it when they stopped on the first island, and according to the captain, it would happen in 15 days.
But that also meant Damian and the others would have to live inside the same room for 15 days. There was no way for Damian to get another room without drawing too much attention. He couldn’t use two identities at the same time without people realizing it.
Damian returned to the room to tell the news to everyone.
"15 days here until we get another room? Well, that’s quite challenging, but doable. But what about the food and fresh air?" Elena asked.
The people on the ship would realize that Elrandir, Cassia, Nessia and Elena were not supposed to be there the moment they saw them walking around on the ship.
"I’ll get you food, but fresh air is kinda hard," Damian said, shrugging, "Maybe during the night you can get some? Everyone will be sleeping."
Things wouldn’t be so easy, but they had to do it. They had to get the power source to start doing something about the upcoming problem. The life of many depended on it.
Damian could not help but think about his friends, especially Aurora and Magnus. He had tried to contact them multiple times, but something was wrong with his ring, the one he used to talk to them. He had no idea what it was, but that was bothering him.
Anyway, days passed without much happening. Damian spent most of his day on the upper part of the ship, looking at the ocean and talking to others to get more information about their destination, and the islands they would pass by.
No one suspected him, and things went smoothly. The only time people looked at him strangely was when he grabbed a lot of food to bring back to his room, but no one said a word to him.
After 10 days of sailing, the atmosphere got darker inside the ship. The ocean was a dangerous place. It was common for beasts to attack the ship, or other pirate ships to come and try to get the items the merchants were transporting.
Damian witnessed both things in one day. His morning started with a commotion outside. He left his room to check, and once up there, he saw the captain and the rest of his crew — which were the people hired to not only sail but to protect the ship — talking to another group of people.
The group of people didn’t look friendly at all. They were pirates who were trying to steal the ship.
"Just give up," the pirate leader said, "Why lose your life here?"
Damian, being powerful himself, could analyze both parties to see who was the strongest. The crew on his ship was much more powerful than the pirates, so he was not concerned about the outcome. The crew killed all the pirates, who only managed to injure one person, who would recover in a month or so.
But the real danger came during the afternoon, right after Damian had his lunch.
It was a massive serpent which had something like 15 meters of length, and had the power to spit a type of acid from its mouth, which was deadly not just to the person it hit, but also to the ship.
The crew knew about that serpent, a famous type of beast that destroyed many ships who sailed through those parts.
Damian felt the power emanating from the creature, and he knew it was powerful. The crew on the ship had the means to defeat it, but that would cost a lot. A few would die, and the ship could get damaged.
’Should I help them? This can blow up my cover, but it’s better than having the ship destroyed, as that would make our time in this ocean a living hell,’ thought Damian.
The answer didn’t look like a hard one. Damian wanted to help, but he still wanted to do something in the shadows.
"Prepare to engage," the captain yelled, "Go all out. We need to defeat this no matter what! And keep the ship intact!"
They were doing their best to not let the serpent destroy the ship. The serpent opened its mouth and shot the acid liquid, but the crew not only dodged it, but they worked together utilizing some special shields to block the liquid, not letting it hit the ship.
Damian was helping out in the best way he could. He was using his Telekinesis to mess up with the mind of that creature, making the movements way slower. That meant the serpent was not hitting the attacks it should, and it was not dodging the crew’s attacks either.
With Damian’s help, the fight got way easier. Even the crew suspected something was wrong, and their conclusion was that the serpent was sick. Sickness was something common in the wilderness.
The serpent was defeated after a tough battle. Unfortunately, one of the crew members died. Not only that, but someone was watching Damian after what he did during the fight..
